Priority will be given to requests from nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving GATX's key communities in the Chicagoland area with innovative programs that address GATX's three strategic issues.
Other criteria include:
- ability to develop or implement programs which impact GATX's strategic issues
- clear, reasonable goals and measurable outcomes for the proposed project
- effectiveness of current programs
- efficiency of the organization's structure and management
- potential for collaboration or cooperation with other groups
- ability to leverage additional support for the project from other funders
- previous history of support from GATX, and the quality of the programs resulting from such support
- involvement of GATX volunteers
While GATX's community relations staff will pro-actively seek to identify nonprofit organizations with experience or potential in developing programs in our strategic issues, unsolicited proposals will also be reviewed. While most grants will be restricted to program or project funding, consideration may also be given to: capital support, start up or seed money for pilot projects, and challenge grants to leverage additional community support.
