Geographic Focus

In Chicago, the primary focus of the Community Partnership Program is Chicago's inner city and locations where our employees reside.

Most grants will be awarded to projects or programs within this geographic focus. A small percentage of our grantmaking budget will be allocated for the support of select nonprofits which have special merit and address our strategic issue areas, but operate outside of our geographic focus.

Grants will also be made to organizations outside Chicago based in GATX's local operating communities. However, the funding of these nonprofits must be either initiated by GATX's community affairs manager at its corporate headquarters in Chicago, or requested by GATX's local contributions committees.
