Mission

Through the GATX Community Partnerships Program, GATX Corporation's Community Relations programs will help improve communities by proactively selecting and supporting significant issues relevant to the economic viability of our local communities nationwide, through initiatives that are consistent with GATX's business interests.

The program will be built around those local issues which best advance relationships with customers or prospects, raise employee morale, build visibility among key socio-economic groups, advance the company's human resources and business interests, and enhance GATX's position as a local community leader.

To meet the challenges of our mission, we have established a number of internal operating strategies, including:

• Improve communications
• Operate through clear and efficient procedures
• Build organizational capacity
• Expand grantmaking in GATX's communities nationwide
• Maximize GATX's operating companies' efforts

Program Strategies include:

• Add value to GATX and its stakeholders
• Promote and reward community service

Just as GATX's key initiatives are designed to provide a strong return to our shareholders, these strategies will enable GATX Corporation to strive for leadership on issues which affect the continued viability of our communities. Specifically, GATX will focus on three key strategic issues: success through education, caring for our environment, and strengthening families.
