Work and Family Benefits

Balancing the demands of your job with the needs of your family or personal life can be quite a challenge. Work & Family benefits can help relieve some of this stress in several ways. Work & Family benefits can provide financial assistance toward your dependent care and adoption expenses, as well as help you or your family deal with problems that can affect your personal life and work performance.

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Provide you with the opportunity to reduce your annual expenses for dependent care while you work by using tax-free dollars to reimburse yourself for the cost of these services.

Employee Assistance Program
Confidential counseling available to GATX employees and their family members for work-related and personal problems, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. GATX pays the full cost of initial assessment, short-term counseling and referral services offered through this program.

Dependent Care Resource and Referral
Confidential counseling, education and referral services for resolving issues related to your dependent care responsibilities.

Adoption Assistance
Benefit of up to $2,500 per year toward adoption-related expenses not covered by medical insurance.

Time Off From Work Benefits

Time Off From Work benefits allow you to take a break from your job and relax, travel or take care of personal responsibilities.

Holidays
GATX generally provides eight paid holidays a year, plus two floating holidays.

Vacation
Employees are eligible for up to 3 weeks vacation when joining the company, and up to 4 weeks vacation after 8 years of service.

Continuing Education Benefits

Continuing Education benefits provide reimbursement of your cost for job-related courses and degree programs that you successfully complete. GATX recognizes the value of continuing education for its employees. That's why GATX sponsors an Education Reimbursement Program that helps pay for pre-approved, job-related courses or degree programs you successfully complete.

This program provides:

• Reimbursement for tuition costs for pre-approved, job-related courses you successfully complete.
• For non-graduate programs, GATX will reimburse up to 100% of the first $5,250 in expenses, then 50% of remaining expenses until an annual limit of $8,000 has been reimbursed.
• For graduate programs, GATX will reimburse up to 80% of expenses for a maximum of six classes per calendar year.

Community Service Benefits

Community Service benefits provide matching gifts for your own charitable contributions, as well as encourage, recognize and honor employee participation in volunteer community service programs. GATX's community service programs are designed to encourage employee support of — and active participation in — nonprofit organizations that enhance GATX's three strategic issue areas: success through education, caring for our environment and strengthening families.

Matching Gifts
GATX provides a $1-for-$1 matching contribution (based on your own contribution) to the nonprofit organization up to an annual maximum contribution of $2,000.

Partners In Community Service
GATX makes a $250 grant to a nonprofit organization on your behalf if you have volunteered more than 36 hours of time without pay to a nonprofit organization for a period of at least three months.

Spirit of Volunteerism
GATX recognizes and honors group volunteer efforts of employees that best exemplify principles of community service, teamwork and good corporate citizenship. Awarded twice each year; group members receive a trophy, and a $1,000 check is awarded to the nonprofit organization that was the recipient of the group's services.

Service and Recognition Awards

GATX recognizes employee service and contributions to the company through its service award program.

Transit Pass Program

GATX offers a full service commuter benefit program that allows employees to purchase transit passes and/or pay for eligible parking expenses on a pre-tax basis.
