Rail
We are a leader in railcar leases, serving North America and Europe with 165,000 train cars. Our affiliate, Rail Locomotive Group, operates one of the largest lease fleets of locomotives in North America, buying, selling, servicing and leasing four- and six-axle locomotives to railroads and industrial users. We also provide a unique mix of financial and mechanical services.
Specialty
Specialty provides asset/portfolio acquisitions, management and remarketing. The Shipping and Marine Group pursues transactions around the world while the Industrial Equipment Finance Group delivers equipment leasing and financing tailored to North American manufacturing and industrial sectors. Additionally, Specialty provides asset management services to third-party owners.
American Steamship Company
Our state-of-the art fleet of eighteen self-unloading vessels transports dry bulk commodities on the Great Lakes. American Steamship Company, which became a part of GATX in 1973, has been moving vital cargo across the Great Lakes for a century.
