Community Involvement

GATX supports not-for-profit organizations committed to cultural, educational, environmental, family, health care and social service issues. GATX also maintains active community investments in Chicago, San Francisco and Buffalo.

We organize and encourage employees to volunteer in their communities, through tutoring and mentoring programs, building playgrounds and working at soup kitchens, food banks and shelters, and by participating in food, clothing and toy collection drives.

 

GATX offices in Chicago and San Francisco hold annual fund-raisers. In Chicago, where proceeds benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of Illinois, employee donations combined with corporate matching funds raised $320,000, making GATX the largest contributor to the state organization. In San Francisco, GATX and its employees raised $50,000 to benefit a variety of charitable organizations.
