End of Lease Returns

How soon is a railcar removed from billing after it is returned to GATX at the end of the lease period?

The Master Contract specifies your company's responsibilities at the end of the lease.  These may vary depending on the car type or whether you have a full-service or net lease. Generally, the railcar(s) must be returned in clean condition to a location specified by GATX. After the railcar is inspected and approved for cleanliness and general condition, GATX verifies the release date – usually the date the car was forwarded to or arrived at the shop – and billing stops as of that date. In some cases, however, such as when a substantial amount of commodity remains in the car, it will be returned and the customer will be charged for mileage and whatever fees apply until the railcar is returned in an acceptable condition.
