End of Lease Returns

The master contract specifies your company's responsibilities at the end of the lease.  These may vary depending on the car type or whether you have a full service or net lease. Generally, the railcar(s) must be returned in clean condition to a location specified by GATX. After the railcar is inspected and approved for cleanliness and general condition, GATX verifies the release date – usually the date the car was forwarded to or arrived at the shop – and billing stops as of that date. In some cases, however, such as when a substantial amount of commodity remains in the car, it will be returned and the customer charged for mileage and whatever fees apply while the railcar is returned to acceptable condition.
