Features and Benefits:

GATX cars can be equipped with a variety of gauging devices, valves and safety devices as needed to ensure the safe transportation of each commodity.

To select the right railcar for your needs, answer these questions:

  • Is the commodity hazardous, and if so, what is the hazard class?

  • What is the density and the viscosity of the commodity being hauled?

  • Does the commodity require a lining?

  • Does the commodity require the use of heating coils or insulation? How and where will the car be loaded and unloaded?

  • What is the capacity of the loading and unloading facilities to hold and transfer the commodity?

  • What is the density of the commodity?

  • Are there restrictions on any handling railroad with respect to weight or dimensions?
