Our Maintenance Shop located at Rivière des Prairies in Montréal is actively looking for an Environment, Health & Safety(EHS) Coordinator. The person in this role will be primarly working with our EHS Manager to support the facility management's goal of providing a safe and secure environment for our employees, contractors, visitors and the surrounding community in cooperation with facility and corporate Operations and EHS objectives, targets and goals. To ensure compliance with all EHS regulatory and Responsible Care requirements. To understand and strategically reduce EHS risk to all stakeholders via a proactive and continuous improvement approach. Additionally, this role will eventually have the opportunity to provide some support  to our Operations Manager with the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects for our facility capital projects, to improve productivity, reduce waste and deliver cost savings. Responsibilities:

Key Activities: 

• Conduct EHS-related compliance inspections and subsequent corrective actions
• Coordinate EHS document translation from English to French 
• Support injury / incident management process
• Support EHS training content development and delivery
• Act as backup EHS contact when EHS Manager is off-site
• Complete monthly EHS metrics reporting and support additional corporate EHS requests, initiatives and projects
• Provide some support on the audits of our performance indicators in Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost (SQDC) and ensure the on-time completion of actions items from those audites
• Support the development and implementation of Standard Work Instructions(SWIs) for employees on the field
• Ensure the Implementation and effectiveness of Daily Visual Management (DVM) in support of facility SQDC goals.
• Identification and execution of Kaizen and 5S events

• Coordinate the roll out of Environment Health & Safety (EHS ) and CI Continuous Improvement trainings for shop employees

   

  
  
  

Qualifications:

Scope of Work:

This position will interact with all employees including management, EHS, Human Resources, Quality, corporate representatives, customers, vendors, and contractors. This role will have a high level of interaction with hourly employees throughout the daily schedule. The decisions made by the person filling this position are of a technical nature, and mid to high range of complexity. This position’s primary functions are conducted in accordance with established policy and principles.

Education and/or Experience required (including certifications):

• Minimum of (2-5) years’ experience in an Environment Health & Safety role
• Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in project
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Lean Manufacturing /Six Sigma background (asset).
• Training content development and delivery experience preferred.
• Experience in unionized environment is a plus.

Other (i.e., physical requirements, travel, etc. that is not covered above):

Physical requirements include outdoor work (in hot environment), climbing stairs and some heavy lifting.
Minimal travel will be required within the US and Canada.
