The Account Solutions Associate will learn the various duties of working within GATX's Service Delivery Group, with a primary focus on the Customer Service Department. Additionally, they will gain exposure to GATX's Fleet Execution, Contracts and Mechanical Records departments. The incumbent will spend time in all the above-mentioned departments learning roles and responsibilities and assisting in completing duties as needed.


Customer Service

  • Act as the main contact for our customers for all activities (outside the sales function) related to the management and utilization of GATX leased railcars.
  • Respond to customer requests regarding for compliance, bad order and Destroyed and Damaged Car Tracking (DDCT) incidents. 
  • Review repair estimates and communicate customer liability charges to the customer.

 Fleet Execution

  • Complete order review and entry, contract assignment and rental billing of cars.
  • Assist with ordering cars from storage, tracing cars to ensure they are in transit, and creating service instructions for cars repairs.
  • Trouble-shoot and create solutions when unforeseen fleet issues occur to meet on-time delivery.

 Contracts/Mechanical Records

  • Provide accurate, consistent, and timely contracts to customers for the GATX commercial organization. 
  • Update and maintain mechanical records, and review and track documentation required by regulatory agencies.


• Bachelor’s degree (preferred); equivalent industry or customer facing experience acceptable
• 0-2 years experience in a customer facing or industry related job
• General rail industry knowledge desirable
• Strong PC skills are required with a good knowledge of Microsoft Applications
• SAP experience is desirable
• Some travel required for customer visits and other customer-related events
