The Field Services Foreman position schedules, prioritizes and conducts all aspects of inspection, testing and repair of GATX owned and non-owned railcars, while helping to maintain and foster customer relationships. This position will assist with the managing the Customer Site, including serving as the interim backup to the Site Manager when he or she is away from the location. Accurately completes required documentation and updates GATX, AAR and external systems directly related to repairs performed. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, GATX policies, procedures and engineering instructions, Field Manual of the AAR Interchange Rules, applicable Manual of Standards and Recommended Practices and DOT regulations.
This Field Services Foreman must be proficient in and knowledgeable in all required Inspection, Repair, Air Brake Testing and Non-Destructive Testing. The Field Services Foreman will mentor and coach railcar mechanics.
This position manages the day to day activities involving material inventory including but not limited to ordering, incoming inspection and staging of both Railcar and non-Railcar related items required in the execution of railcar repair.
