Overview:
Purge:
Sets up test tank railcars, hooks high pressure railcars to vent, diffuse or purge.
Valve & Coil Specialist:
Performs all functions of coil and valve repairs including necessary and essential repair to noted miscellaneous tank railcar fittings.
Responsibilities:
Purge:
- Perform purging testing.
- Removes cover plates and bonnets, dismantles fittings from cover plate, identifies parts with tags and stacks on skids.
- Hooks up at prescribed pressure.
- Hooks up cars to vent to atmospheric pressure.
- Hooks up and diffuses cars with steam.
- Tests tanks at prescribed pressures.
- Removes water from tanks.
- Communicate with supervisor as needed.
- Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Comply with the established safety policies, support-continuing awareness for safety, and when possible recommend specific changes and improvements to health and safety policies and programs.
Valve & Coil Specialist:
- Receives oral and written instructions as to the work to be performed.
- Install, test, repair, or renew interior and exterior coils, coil cradles and brackets.
- Use drawins and sketches to layout coil, bracket, and valve location.
- Refaces seating surfaces, not to include machining of surfaces.
- Install, test, repair or renew miscellaneous tank fittings such as: safcety vent, outlet nozzle, cap, induction pipe, high pressure manway bonnet, and gaskets.
- Use oxy-acetylene torch to perform burning operation as required.
- Clean dirt, grease, etc. from interior of tank.
- Work with welder on installation of coils as required.
- Set-up and operate bending, threading, and cut-off equipment to shape and fabricate pipe as required for installation.
- Communicate with supervisor as needed.
- Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Comply with the established sfaety policies, support-continuing awareness for safety, and when possible recommend specific changes and improvements to health and safety policies and programs.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as IO instructions, FM instructions, and work orders
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide two digit numbers
- Ability to reason through and plan work details and procedures to obtain desired results
- Knowledge of railcar repairs
- Effective communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
*Physical Demands*
- Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions
- Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods
- Must be able to safely lift (vertically) up to 51 lbs, regulary and safetly lift up to 85 lbs from ground to surface
- Must be able to push/pull (horizaontally) up to 140 pounds of force
- Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
- Must be able work in extreme temperature environments
- Must be able to physically enter confined space and work in enclosed environments
The hourly rate for this position is $27.44 per hour.
