Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Partnership for Repair Facilities

  • Act as the lead financial advisor for assigned shops, building strong partnerships with plant managers and shop leadership team.
  • Develop and continuously improve financial analysis and key operating metrics reporting at the repair facilities.
  • Translate financial results into operational insights: identify cost trends, drivers, and savings opportunities.
  • Use dashboards and analytics to communicate findings in a clear and visual manner.
  • Support the capital spending reporting and analysis processes for the facilities
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting of productivity, efficiency, utilization, standard hours, repair revenue, and other key metrics across the facilities, working closely with the Fleet Maintenance Management (“FMM”) team.
  • Ensure FMM audit results are accurately reflected in facility performance metrics.
  • Review and maintain fixed asset registers for the facility along with related reporting and controls
  • Work with Accounting, FP&A and Internal Audit groups on financial compliance and controls activities as required.
  • Lead the contract administration and real estate/property management functions for the assigned facilities

Lead the budgeting, forecasting and planning processes for the assigned facilities.

  • Partner with operations to gather assumptions and inputs for shop-level budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly variances between actuals and budget; provide root cause commentary and suggest corrective actions.
  • Assist with the budget and analysis of capital investments, including cost savings related to potential investments.
  • Drive accuracy and accountability in financial planning processes.  

Capital Investment Support and Financial Modeling

  • Provide financial analysis support related to capital investments, potential cost savings opportunities and other ad hoc items.
  • Provide facility finance insights and support the development of financial data and analysis for investment evaluations, in alignment with the GATX capital investment process.
  • Monitor actual capital spend versus plan and report on progress and variances.
  • Track and monitor the capital project process. 

Qualifications:

This role is an important part of the Business Analysis team and functions as a finance partner to the assigned repair facilities.   This role interfaces with the plant management teams and operations leaders, ensuring finance remains a strategic voice at the shop level.  For purposes of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance, this role frequently collaborates with the FP&A, Accounting, and Internal Audit teams as needed.

 

    • Undergraduate degree required in Accounting or Finance
    • CPA or MBA with a concentration in Finance and/or Accounting desired
    • A strong understanding of accounting principles, prior experience in a cost accounting role strongly preferred
    • 8+ years of experience with accounting and financial analysis in a service/maintenance or plant manufacturing environment preferred
    • Strong business acumen and ability to explain financials to non-finance leaders
    • 10-15% travel required for support of multiple facilities, management meetings and projects

Salary range:

As of the post date, the salary range for this position is:
92700.00 USD - 139000.00 USD

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.
