Portfolio Administration
Portfolio Administration, within Portfolio Management, manages our owned assets as well as assets on behalf of third-party clients.
Our ultimate goal is to maximize the value of these portfolios. It begins with a thorough understanding of the transaction including the legal documents, the underlying assets and the markets in which they operate. Working together, our equipment management and contract administration groups constantly monitor the portfolios seeking to enhance value through actions including asset bundling and sales to a strategic buyer, pro-active end-of-lease negotiations, or the traditional back-office functions, such as administration, accounting and tax.
Our asset focus differentiates GATX’s portfolio administration services from traditional lease and loan servicers. We manage single transactions or entire portfolios of transactions comprised of diverse structures and specialized assets, including marine assets, oil and gas industry equipment, construction and mining equipment, power generation equipment, and operating industrial facilities. In each case, our equipment group applies skills in equipment valuation, negotiation, appraisal management and asset remarketing to optimize the outcome of lease-end negotiations for both our owned and managed portfolios.
We continually seek opportunities to leverage our portfolio administration capabilities and provide value-added services to existing and newly developed clients, which may lack GATX's infrastructure or asset expertise.
